IC 1318 is a large emission type nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. Commonly known as the “Butterfly Nebula” because of its shape,  the nebula is a distance of approximately 3000 light years from the Earth.  This nebula is part of the Gamma Cygni nebulosity complex.

Camera: QSI 683wsg-8 with Astronomik narrowband filters.

Optics: Takahashi FSQ-106

Mount: Meade Lx-200GPS


Total exposure time was 14 hours through Hydrogen-Alpha, O3 and S2 narrowband filters mapped to green, blue and red respectively.
