The Iris Nebula lies approximately 1300 light years from Earth in the constellation of Cepheus. Light from the central star reflects off of massive amounts of molecular dust left over from the star's birth.


Image acquired using SBIG St-10XME camera with Astrodon filter set through 12" Meade Lx-200 GPS telescope with Celestron .63x reducer.



120 minutes of Luminance through Luminance filter, 1x1 binning.

40 minutes each of Red, Green and Blue, 2x2 binning.

Five minute sub-frames.
