All of the equipment in Twin Pines Observatory can be remotely controlled locally
through a wireless LAN or over the Internet. A dedicated laptop computer in the observatory
runs as a Windows Remote Desktop server. This, in conjunction with an array of X-10
power outlet controllers allow for total automation of the observatory. The X-10
power controllers are activated via software control with a USB interface. Custom
made software controls the X-10 modules and the telescope mount. All hand control
unit functions can be emulated with computer software. Telescope controller function
is emulated with GPS Control and Optec focuser control is operated through Focus
Max. Maxim DL software is used for image acquisition and camera control.
